My shoot style.
I shoot quick but know the people I’m shooting. This means, typically, I prefer to carpool to the location with the people I’m shooting whenever possible. I want to hear your stories and get a vibe of who you are, your view on art and the world, and think of ways I may be able to incorporate that in to the shoot. I try to find ways you can shoot things you haven’t had the opportunity to previously shoot.
I may only shoot a look for 10 minutes and will want to move on to the next look or location. I feel super weird meeting someone for 5 minutes, then jumping in to the shoot. I consider the people I work with friends rather than “models.”
Comfort is critical. While you may be uncomfortable with cold weather, your overall comfort with the shoot and shooting process is important. Let be me more clear: photographers are notoriously creepy, suss, and sketch. I don’t want to be “that guy.”
Some of my work has a sexual vibe, some of it has a violent vibe. Most of it doesn’t, but enough does that people may question my motives. So lemme be clear: I do not push those things on anyone - if you vibe with either and want to shoot something with those vibes, we can talk about it.
1) Nobody is required to shoot anything they don’t want
2) I don’t date models so I will not be hitting on you
I think this is important to bring up because I know there are enough photographers who use this as a dating tool. It’s not mine.
If an adult wants to have an adult themed shoot based around death or sex, I’m open. Expect honest conversations. If anyone ever said “I had a conversation with MD that was about death or sex,” everyone around me would probably say “Well, of course you did.” I’m more likely to talk about death, self and spiritual development, but if someone wants to talk about shooting kinks, I will listen and converse.
If you are ever uncomfortable with anything I say, just say “That makes me feel uncomfortable.” I have no reason to judge anyone so it’s all good!
Shooting is a team sport. I want to make sure the viewer has something inspiring or interesting or hot or weird; and I want to make sure the model walks away with some images he/she wants, and has good memories of the day. I prefer to work with people multiple times over several years. I have friends I started shooting while they were teenage new faces at agencies, and are now in their 30’s - I like seeing people evolve and shooting art with them over several years.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
