ABOUT MOON
ABOUT STARS
Stars are invite-only. You must do a moon shoot before you’ll be invited to the stars. These are very technical shoots and require hours of driving to get to the locations.
It’s often 50°F (10°C) when we shoot star photos. You need to have the ability to stay still for 2-10 seconds at a time (each movement turns in to a blur in the image). Each photo takes 15 seconds. Basically, it’s a physically demanding series.
On top of the cold, it’s dark. It’s deep in nature. And it’s over an hour away from cell service.
I have plenty of stories where we spent hours getting to a location and the person couldn’t sit still. Or they couldn’t shoot for more than 5 minutes because it was too cold.
We are usually shooting for 30-45 minutes under these conditions. And you have to make it look comfortable.
These are invite-only because I need to see how you handle cold, dark, nature, and the other elements associated with these shoots. I’ve made the mistake of taking people who thought they could handle star shoots only to find that they physically couldn’t handle the cold or staying still for long stretches of time. I’ve had to turn down close friends for this series so don’t be sad if you’re not brought in.
