Artist statement

Sex and death: The catalyst and the end for every living being, including you. Two individuals experience sex and nine months later you were born. Now, like everyone before and after you, you will die. We spend our life with sex as one of the highest rewards whilst avoiding death. Sex and death. They are the two great bookends of life.

My work is about confronting these two star-crossed lovers and other taboos in between: emotions, coming of age, psychedelia, art, violence, spirituality, breakdowns, love, danger, freedom, and the rest of the gang of emotions and experiences. It’s about how these things merge and come together and pull apart. It all fits.

My work flows. Sometimes it’s literal and sometimes it’s abstract. It pulses. It is of the moment, even when that means it needs to be anachronistic.

I often choose to focus on creating iconic imagery made by combining surreal and documentary photography, thus giving many images a cinematic feeling. Other times I document a person to research stories and concepts that will later appear in images. And then there are times when the person and their experience is everything, and the photo documentation is what it is.

Life is temporary. Art is temporary. This is our time in the pantheon. Enjoy it while you can.
